The market for children is really interesting, as there are for all segments. With families having fewer offspring, there are a lot of uncles, aunts, grandparents, friends, etc for each infant, and consequently there is a huge market around the kids.
I remember 15 years ago was working in the office of a fellow graphic designer and the fax machine stopped printing, then I explained that it was a customer with the requirements of several new lines.
To my surprise, he explained the inmmensa variety of baby products. When creating a new character, this was applied to the entire line: pacifiers, nipples, bottles (several different models), teething rings, plates for food, cups, bibs, bags for travel, shoes, hygiene products, cosmetics, and believe it or not, the list is extended greatly, besides the packaging for each product.
